Two classmates got together over the weekend to do their assigned History reading. Tess can read 1 page per minute, while Ronald can read 4 pages per minute. When they met, Tess had already read 51 pages, and Ronald had already gotten through 15 pages. After a while, they had both read the same number of pages. How long did that take? How many pages had each one read?
Accepted Solution
A:
Let the number of minutes be x.
Tess = 51 + 1x Ronald = 15 + 4x
When both read the same number of pages : 51 + 1x = 15 + 4x 3x = 36 x = 12
